OEG to expand sports betting operations to Lithuania

Eastern European land-based gaming operator Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG) will expand its newly re-branded OlyBet sports betting operations into Lithuania after being granted a licence to operate in the Baltic state.

OEG launched its re-branded betting service in August earlier this year under the OlyBet banner for its network of sports bars in Estonia and Latvia. The company currently operations 17 casino lounges, ten of which are in Estonia and seven in Latvia.

OEG also recently re-launched its online platform which features a new sportsbook to enhance the product portfolio, with software supplied by iForium and gaming content from the likes of Microgaming, Playtech, Net Entertainment and BetConstruct.

The company said that it will expand its sports betting operations into Lithuania after its subsidiary, Olympic Casino Group Baltija UAB, was granted a licence by the country’s State Gaming Control Commission.

OEG will begin operations in Lithuania in the first quarter of 2014. In addition to its online sports betting platform, the company will also expand its network of OlyBet Sports Bars into Lithuania.

According to its latest financial results, Lithuania accounted for nearly 15 per cent of OEG’s total revenue for the first nine months of 2013. The company owns and operates twelve casinos in the country, with 394 slot machines and 58 gaming tables.
