GTECH G2 expands presence in Spain with MARCA deal




Lottomatica subsidiary GTECH G2 has signed an online sports betting partnership with Spanish national daily sports newspaper MARCA.

GTECH G2 will provide players with a full online sports betting solution using its Margin Maker software hosted on MARCA’s website,

GTECH G2 signed the agreement with Spanish publishing group Unidad Editorial, which also owns the El Mundo and Expansión newspapers, with the company providing MARCA with betting opportunities through in-play betting and a suite of gaming products.

“MARCA is the most popular sports newspaper in Spain and part of the largest publishing group in the country, Unidad Editorial,” said Walter Bugno, president and CEO of SPIELO International and GTECH G2. “MARCA has millions of loyal readers so this agreement will enhance GTECH G2’s presence in Spain and solidify our leading position in the sports betting market.”  

MARCA will launch a multi-million euro marketing campaign to launch MARCA Apuestas, the new brand now being offered in the Spanish online betting market.

With a primary focus on football, in particular Real Madrid, MARCA’s newspaper has a daily readership of over 3m.

The company also operates an associated sports radio station (Radio MARCA), TV channel (MARCA TV) and website (, which is one of the highest traffic Spanish-language websites with over 3m monthly users.
